This is a new kind of blog post for me. Often, when I am travelling back from a beautiful wedding or interesting location I am full of excitement to share my experience and don’t want to wait until the trailer is complete. So here is my last wedding shoot of 2015, it was pretty special! not only because of the location – Hacienda Temozon in Yucatan, Mexico, but because of the people.
All these images are frame grabs form the video footage.
Not only were Charlotte and Johan super easy going and a pleasure to hang out with, but the mixture of guests from Sweden and Mexico made for a heady cocktail of laughter and partying. Anyone who follows my blog and work will know that I love a wedding that is of a mixture of cultures, so this was right up my street.
The welcome party was on the roof top bar of Casa Lecanda Boutique Hotel in Merida. A low key affair with chilled music and cocktails. The sparse light made for a great atmosphere and would have been a challenge to shoot, but the camera I have used this year, Sony a7s, loves these types of conditions.
Hacienda Temozon has bags of character! It has a rich history spanning 350 years but most of the features are from it’s use as a sisal factory from 1851. The rich colours, rustic features and immaculate light made for easy pickings with the imagery.
The day was planned to perfection and care was taken to make sure the light was perfect for each section of the day, including a wonderful golden hour for the ceremony. The balloon release for the recessional was a lovely, unique touch too.
Although the feature movie is now complete and in the position of Charlotte and Johan, I wanted to take my time with the trailer. This beautiful wedding will pay another visit to the blog in the near future when the trailer is complete.
