Raminder + Manav // Same day edit

Raminder’s father sadly went into hospital at 3 am the morning of the wedding.  Amazingly he made it to the ceremony.  The brides brother spoke of the fact his father cannot communicate but had tears in his eyes on the day, which communicated everything.  I thought using this speech in the same day edit might have been a bit much but wanted to convey the story of this very brave family.

As usual this same day edit was extremely stressful and the film was ready just in time for it’s 10pm showing.  Complications with actually finding somewhere to work made matters worse and I ended up booking a room in the hotel to do my editing in.  I ended up with half an hour actual editing time. No time for colour correction or grading- hence the nasty video-like tungsten cast in the first clips.

The Dolly and spinning transitions are between pre-wedding events that took place simultaneously in Hale and Wolverhampton.

Alicia and Paul’s wedding video // same day edit

When Alicia asked for her same day edit to be set to the live music performance during her entrance to the church I was a bit dubious at first.  Then she told me the performer was Jennifer Sawdon.  I have met her at a wedding previously and was extremely impressed with her voice so I visited her website to have a listen to her rendition of Eva cassady’s Songbird.  This was to be Alicia’s song for walking down the Aisle.

Well to be honest I pretty much had an out of body experience and thought that the emotion of this very powerful ballad was perfect for Alicia’s same day edit.  I only hoped I could pull it off.

I would have to get the live sound take pretty spot on if this was going to work and also needed footage of Jenny singing to reflect that it is live.

As I suspected would be the case, the emotion of the song got the better of Alicia and she shed a tear or two while actually walking down the aisle.

This was an ambitious same day edit, as usual I gave myself no time at all to do what ended up being quite a finicky edit.  Really hope Alicia and Paul enjoyed it and have a great honeymoon and future.  :-)

Sophie and Daniel’s wedding video // same day edit

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, same day edits are stressful.  They are imperfect, there are weaknesses in a rushed edit.  But they have a character of their own, they are part of the day and I always get a rush when they are completed and screened.

I loved this wedding!  When I arrived for the rehearsals the previous day I could tell it was going to be a fun day, everyone just seemed so relaxed and easy going.  This same day edit was screened before the cake cutting and first dance so I only had 30 minutes actual editing time, few!  it was cutting it fine.  But like it always does, it all worked out in the end.  :-)

Dena and Andrew’s wedding video // same day edit

Any videographer will tell you that doing a ‘same day edit’ is incredibly stressful and nerve racking and there are times that I wonder whether it is all going to come together.  But then you get a moment like this.  Dena’s emotional reaction to this movie made everything worth while!  Thanks so much Dena and Andrew for all your praise and appreciation, I am really proud to be part of your special day.

Dena and Andrew requested a ten minute highlights reel which incorporates their same day edit in the middle. Dena showed such a fantastic reaction to the film on the day that I put a split screen in, showing this. Hope you like it almost as much as the same day edit, Dena.

Ainsley and Rob’s wedding video // same day edit

This movie was edited and displayed on the evening of the reception. Take That ‘Rule the World’ was the brides choice so I thought I’d try to emulate the video with de-saturation and anamorphic flare. I’m quite pleased with the look, so I have saved it for the future.
Ainsley, Rob and everyone else were so smiley and full of energy that editing became a joy. It was an amazing day and I’m honoured to have shared it with them.

Amy + Steven // Same Day Edit

I know I said I would never do another same day edit and yet, here I am once again…

Had a great day once the stresses and strains of the task in hand were over.  This was screened just after the speeches on my brand new Sony Bravia in full 1080p HD.

There was a wonderful fun quality to the day and everyone again made me feel like one of the guests.  One of the bridesmaids I knew already, she was Dena from a same day edit I did last year.  Great to see Dena and Andy again.
