Canvas prints from 5d Mark II footage

These test prints were kindly done by Richard Forrest, a past client.  The larger of the two is actually 30″ x 20″ and are printed from an HD frame grab from the 5d Mark II, my main camera of choice for wedding videos.

The resolution holds up very well, even for the largest print and I am more than happy to offer this service to my clients.

Details will be on my website soon.

Robert Rodriguez is using DSLR for latest music video

no comments

Robert Rodriguez was spotted using two Canon 7ds to shoot his latest music video.  These cameras have now been used by a plethora of influential cinematographers and producers on all kinds of productions from feature films to television drama.

See Philip Bloom’s blog about the Rodriguez shoot here.

The DSLR revolution is firmly underway.  When the new 5d firmware is released mid March enabling live RGB histogram and 24p/25p these amazing cameras will be even more powerful!

Very short videoblog

OK, I didn’t really have time but had to throw this together anyway. A very short ‘behind the scenes’ video blog of day 1 of Helen Farley-Jones’ music video shoot:-

Music Video Shoot // Helen Farley Jones

Super impressed with how the 5d Mark II performed at Helens music video shoot yesterday! Very tempted to put up the first draft of the edit but don’t want to spoil anything. Here are some frame grabs to be going on with.  These are all ungraded, straight from the camera:-

As soon as I get time I’ll post a ‘behind the scenes’ movie that will contain some of the footage.

I used two photography lights, borrowed off Helens husband, Craig. Eventually managed to get them up and running after the minor problem of him forgetting the bulbs and leads. Calumet in Manchester sorted us out.  I also used two Canon 5d Mark IIs, 24-70mm 2.8 and  70-200 2.8L.

Really can’t wait to carry on with this shoot, will keep you posted as it develops.

Music Video Project To Start Soon

I will be producing the official promotional video for ‘Miles Away’ by Helen Farley-Jones.

She is a super talented singer / songwriter from Manchester.  I have a few ideas knocking around including having her grand piano delivered to a derelict mill for some arty farty rustic type shots.  I will be blogging regularly about each stage of this job.

I will, naturally, be using my two Canon 5d Mark IIs for this job, with my Kessler Pocket Dolly for dolly shots and Flycam 5000 for stabilisation.  Might even be getting a Kessler Pocket Jib for this and some of the bigger wedding shoots.

Nunsmere Hall wedding trailer

no comments

Following Sophie and Daniel’s New Years Eve wedding, I was asked by Becky from Nunsmere hall to provide a short trailer of the day for the hotels main website.  So this short film centres on the rooms and how nicely they were made up.

It’s set to ‘Riding Horses’ by the brilliant Gustavo Santoalalla, I’ve used his music a lot including this one on Lisa and Locklynne’s wedding trailer earlier in 2009.

My personal Blog is born!

This is an alternative blog for me to share experiences and films that don’t make it to my main wedding blog.

I am doing a little extra work that is not wedding related so all that stuff will go here.  Also I would like to keep the main blog slick, professional and to the point as that is the landing point of potential wedding video clients.

Here I will be a bit more informal and just blog about everything.
