One of Still Motion's biggest criticisms of this piece was my choice of music. They said it was 'off putting'.
They have just used it on their latest film...

I guess I should take what good I can from their comments and take the rest with a pinch of salt. I will not be recommending their clip review though as this wasn't there only contradiction.

Thanks to those photographer friends who have emailed support. You are the people who realise that your asset is your talent and not your equipment. Keep up the good work!

Jeff,

I could not agree more with what you have just said and you have said it with precision and honesty. Well done, good rant!

Yes. Very important issue. Music is the backbone of wedding films. It determines the emotional tone of the entire piece. Not always easy to choose between customer preferences and narrative needs.

Hello from Argentina!
I am an independent filmmaker, do mostly short documentaries of events, indie style,
I like mainly your editing timing, your use of raw cuts. Powerful music, and your sense for powerful moments (bride and groom nerves).
Will be a honor to my you visit my web and blog, and give me your opinion!
Can you tell me how can I send my work to Still Motion "clip review"?

HD 1920x1080 equates to around 2 mega pixels so you can work out your DPI from that. Magazines require 300 DPI so a HD grab would only print to around 6"x3". For a print for a wall the requirements could be a bit less.
More important is the grab itself. You have to expose slightly differently than for cinema with a sharper image and no motion blur.
If I'm going to take stills from the footage I will expose at <1/100 sec instead of the usual 1/50 sec.

Wow I didn't realise that you would have the res to do this from a HD grab! Can you also produce photographic prints from the grabs?
